Roam: Travel App ("Roam," "we," "us," or "our") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using our app.

By using Roam, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

A. Account Information

To create and use an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Password (stored securely in hashed form)
• Username

You may optionally provide:

• Display name
• Profile photo

An account is required to use Roam.

B. User-Generated Content

We collect content you choose to create or upload, including:

• Photos you upload from your device
• Posts and comments you create

This content is user-controlled and visible only to people you choose to share it with (for example, friends).

We only access photos after you explicitly select and upload them using the iOS photo picker.

C. Location Data

When you save a place, Roam stores the coordinates of that location (for example, a restaurant or landmark you visited). This data is linked to your account and used solely to display your pins on the map. Roam does NOT use your device's GPS or track your real-time location.

D. Device & Permissions

Roam does NOT collect:

• Contacts
• Background device data

We do NOT access your camera unless explicitly added in the future.

We only request access to the photo library picker when you choose to upload images.

D. Analytics & Tracking

We currently:

• Do NOT use third-party analytics SDKs
• Do NOT track users across apps or websites
• Do NOT show ads

If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and provide any required disclosures or choices.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Enable posting, commenting, and social features
• Store and display your uploaded content
• Maintain app security and prevent abuse
• Improve app functionality and reliability

Future AI Features

In the future, Roam may use user-submitted text or images to support AI-powered features such as content generation or recommendations.

If implemented:

• Data would only be used to improve in-app features
• We would update this Privacy Policy accordingly
• We would NOT sell your data

3. DATA STORAGE & THIRD PARTIES

Your data is securely stored using Supabase, a cloud infrastructure provider.

We share data only with:

• Cloud hosting and storage providers necessary to operate the app

We do NOT:

• Sell personal data
• Share data with advertisers
• Share data with data brokers

4. ACCOUNT DELETION & DATA RETENTION

You can delete your account directly in the app.

When you delete your account:

• All associated personal data and content are permanently deleted
• No residual data is retained

5. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and data
• Withdraw consent where applicable

You can exercise these rights through in-app settings or by contacting us.

6. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Roam is intended for an adult audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify users as appropriate.
